Dr. Lynelle James was awarded two consecutive teaching fellowships at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theater and Dance, where she taught piano curricula for five years while completing her dissertation. She was faculty of the University’s community piano program for 5 years. 

She received her Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Michigan in 2012, presenting her pedagogy dissertation: “Carl M. Roeder: The derivation of his technical philosophies as presented in his book Liberation and Deliberation in Piano Technique” in addition to the body of her performance dissertation work.

Dr. James has given master classes at colleges and universities across the United States and currently teaches piano in New York City where she resides with her husband and son, and is on the faculty of the Metropolitan String Orchestra. Contact for information about lessons in person or online.
